Got my hotel room reserved for TFF finally.  I'm going to try to get off on Friday and maybe volunteer if I can.  Not sure at this point.  All will depend on my lovely job.

Miami tonight = <3

Been working on scrapbooking.  Was supposed to do more tonight, but I ended up sleeping.  Shocker.

Get paid on Friday so maybe I can finally get some Wii games.

I was given a second chance and I didn't take it.  I shouldn't be bitter, but I am.  Somday I will be able to get off my butt and actually do the things I'm supposed to.

Well, I finally did it.  I registered for TFF.  I'll be honest, I'm still not sure I even want to go, but I know I'll be sorry if I don't.  I'll work on reserving the room tomorrow.  Not sure what nights I want to stay yet.  Maybe I'll get more excited as it gets closer to time to go.

Lots of things going on in my life right now.  I'll admit, I'm feeling kind of lost about certain things, yet I know it will all fall into place soon.  Have to make some big decisions and one I made this morning is to give up on fursuit building.  I guess giving up, isn't the right term, it's more like taking a step back.  I've had the fur, foam and glue for months and have done very little with the stuff.  It's taking up space that I need and also it's looming over my head as yet another unfinished project.  Perhaps someday in the future I will come back to it, but for now, it's gotta go.

Hmm
White Christmas!  WOOT!

Ok so yeah it was cool for a while, but now that I'm stuck at the airport, it's not so cool  >:(

I brought things to do since I knew this would happen.  Still bored though.  Don't have any desire to sketch or write, or even be on the internet.

Our plane was here, but it had to go to Houston to pick people up, then it will be back to get us at 1030pm.  Been here since 7, so really not too bad all things considered.  In all the years that I've been flying, I've had awesome luck with very very few delays.

Work is a mess right now.  Got moved to another group for an unknown reason.  Supervisors lied and said it was to make me "more marketable"  WTF ever.  They hate me and always have, so it'll be good to get away from them.  The new supervisor coming in next week is an... interesting lady, so I am glad that I won't have to work for her.  Blessing in disguise and all that.  Going to work on the resume this week and apply for a job in the City of Frisco.

All the craziness that's been going on in my life has made me create a new char (sub sona?) and a whole life for her.  It's been quite fun, cause I don't really have that for any of the other characters of mine.  I think I might have to write it all down before I forget the details.  Don't have her markings figured out yet, so I can't get any arts of her.  She's more like who I want to be whereas Abbey is more who I am.

This sucks!  I'm supposed to be on a plane right now going home!

Been a long ride at work over the past month.  I've been going back and forth on if it's a good thing or a bad thing.  Trying to stay positive about the whole thing, but it's not easy.  Friday was the worst.  Talked to dad, though and he told me some good things, so hopefully the next few weeks go better than I think they will.

Watched both Miami and a lot of worship.net this weekend.  It's this Christian station that plays concerts and sometimes instrumental music with just pretty nature pictures.  They've had some Christmas specials on with some super awesome music, and it's made me feel a lot better about life, so that is good.  Brought back tons of memories and also finally got me into the Christmas spirit.  Hard to believe it's only a few days away!!

WOOT!  I got my plane ticket today finally for Fur Fright.  Also registered and secured one night at the main hotel.  The only ones left for Saturday are $600+  I'll have to keep working on that one.  The reservations lady was awesome and very helpful - unlike the multiple people that I talked to at the Crowne Plaza for Fiesta.

I was trying to work it out so that I could go to Oklacon the next weekend, but I think that would just be a little too much for me.  I also got some of my travel brochures in the mail this week to plan the after FF road trip.  As always there are so many things to do and not enough time!

Not sure if Zeke gets to go or not.  He's so freaking huge!  No worries, though, I will be suiting there for sure :)

A couple of weeks ago, Zeke was invited to the third annual car show in The Colony.  This was my first real public event and it was fun even though it was hot as sin.  I got to see lots of kids, and even tried to play fetch with one, but I couldn't see well enough to be any good.  My dad said that we can practice that at home sometime.  I think maybe a frisbee would be better.  He was my handler for the event and did a good job of telling me "step up/step down" and telling me which side was about to be tackled by kids.

There was an Armadillo mascot there from a local BBQ place and I freaked out when I saw it.  I wasn't in suit at the time, so I ran back inside and changed so I could get a picture with him.

Here's the pictures )
All in all it was a pretty fun time even if it was exhausting.  Zeke will be at Vacation Bible School the last week of June and then in the July 4 Parade in The Colony.  That is going to be even hotter, but whatever.  It will be fun.  :D

Still having some not so fun times around here, but I did get to meet a new friend last week.  Too bad I couldn't take him home and keep him...

I'm not a huge fan of the movie, but it's definitely a good one.  He gave me what I can only describe as a "furry hug"  The kind Zeke gets from other furs complete with a scritch.  Course I was giggling like a dork.  Got to meet several other characters and such.  I'll post more about the trip if anyone is interested.

Had a pretty fun week.  Went to the aquarium on Thursday with my sister and her kids.  We were supposed to go to the zoo, but I guess a birthday trip to the zoo is just not happening for me.  What are the odds that there was rain two years in a row?  Anyways, even though it was $$, it was well worth it.  What cracks me up is that I think there are more non fish than fish there.  They have monkeys, birds, sloths, hares, more birds and insects.  My fav was the Jaguar.  He kept walking right by where we were standing and the kids got so excited... Ok I did too, but whatever.  :P

Came home that night and made Zeke a Myspace.  He's got a few potential gigs, so I figure that was easier than a website for now.  When I get more suits, I'm just going to add them to Zeke's page.

Um, other than that, don't know much.  Got a new SL av, but I was too bored with SL to even try it out.  :(

In two Sundays I'll be at Epcot!  WOOOOOOoooooo!

Been sick on and off this week, so that's been fun.  Tonight I did manage to work on foaming some feetpaws.  They're far from perfect, but they're decent enough.  I can't decide if they are going to be for the pastel kitty or my newest char Dixie.  I'm hoping to make a red white and blue puppy for the July 4 parade.  Just need the fur...  and to finish the character design.  I got the head figured out.  I've been saying for months that I was going to start making fursuit stuff, and I finally started.  GO ME!

Things around here have been interesting lately.  Every time I do something good/cool/fun, it seems something bad comes round to knock me off whatever happiness I was having.  It's one thing to have a bad week, but it's an entirely different thing to have a bad month and a half.  I keep thinking things will change soon.  They have to.

Anyways, less than a month until Disney, then a little bit longer until going back to St. Louis.  We are driving so Zeke gets to come along.  I hope to take pictures of him at the Arch.  I know for sure my dad wants to take pictures of him fishing at the Lake of the Ozarks.

...........Well crap.  My dad and I took some pictures of Zeke this weekend, but now I can't get the images to link right.  Story of my life lately.  It's bedtime anyway.

I got my box of fur in the mail today from DF.  WOOOOOOT.  I was pretty sure that I over ordered and now I'm REALLY sure.  Oh well, I think I'll have some left over to try to make other things.  Sad thing is that I've got no where to actually do the making.

Saturday, though, Dad is supposed to go with me to IKEA to get some shelves.  I'm going to be turning my bedroom into an office/craft area.  Then my sunroom (which is piled to the ceiling with random crap) is going to be my bedroom.  Ok so it will be a bed squished in a tiny room, but all I do is sleep on it, so who cares.  I need crafty space!

SO back to the box.  I gots lavender, light blue and white.  Then I got some swatches.  The gray is so not the gray I'd want for Abbey the pony or the gargoyle.  The black minky shag, however, is perfect for pony hair.  YAY!

Several weeks ago, I saw an ad for someone that was wanting to do a trade for a suit partial.  Stuff for a suit.  So I read and think "YES, I like this idea!"  I contacted her and got the spot.  I didn't have a char in mind, but I knew I wanted something girly for once.  She helped me and we decided on a calico kitty.  I still think it's funny that I don't have a fursona suit planned.  Ah well.  I should have her before July.  YAY!

It doesn't come with feets, so I ordered fur today from DF so I can try to make my own.  Woot!  Got enough for a body suit even though I haven't sewn in 11 years.  My stepmom can, and already had said in the past she would help.  We shall see how that goes....

Also went to Joann's earlier this week cuz foam was on sale.  Also got some puppy scrapbook supplies for pictures of Zeke.  The lady at the checkout was like "awww!  What kind of dog do you have??"  Course I'm thinking 'a big red one' but I can't say that say and finally said Springer since that's what I used to have.  It was pretty funny and I'm sure she was thinking it took me way too long to answer.  :P

My mom said she was staring at my pictures of Zeke trying to figure out how he was made.  She said she wants to examine him up close when I go up to see her in May.  I think if I lived up north with her, we'd be makin suits in our spare time cuz she loves to sew.  I shall resist moving... for now.  I don't know that I could handle a state with four seasons anymore.

Last Saturday Zeke was invited to my niece's birthday party.  I'm glad my sister let me do it because I learned a lot, and of course it was tons of fun.  I need to get hooked up with a better handler.  So far things have been ok, but I think I need to better teach someone to help.

The party was at a park in Grapevine and most of the kids were around 3.  I had to keep looking down because I was afraid I'd run into/over them.  A couple of times I did, but thankfully no one got knocked over.  There was some tail pulling and then I ran smack into this bridge thingie.  Thank goodness I had all that foam on my head :P

My 4 year old nephew was sure it was his auntie, but poor kid was so confused because I kept shaking my head no.  Unfortunately he saw a headless Zeke by accident several weeks ago.  So he kept trying to unzip me and asking if Zeke could "take that thing off"  cause he wanted to play with his Aunt Abbey.  It was cute, but I really had to watch him.

One thing I noticed from the pictures is that I look at the photographer and it makes Zeke look like he's ducking his head.  Der.  I knew this already, but I forgot.  Oops.Piccys )

I also learned that it's pretty easy to move around in the suit.  Prior to this, all I'd really done was walk around.  At the park, I was all over the slides and climbing and such.  The party was moved to the apartment clubhouse because it was cold (for everyone but me...).  I heard parents there say that the kids were sad that the puppy wasn't going to join them for cake.  I think that would have been a little much for me.

I think one of the best parts was when one of the parents at the party said thanks to me and that everyone really loved the puppy.  Made me feel pretty good because that's what this is all about for me.  Being silly and making people smile.  One of my other sisters said she could get me a job as a professional party mascot, but I don't think I want to do that at this point.  For some reason that seems like it would take the fun out of it.

I have two potential parties that I want to go to, though.  A church car show in The Colony, and a private party at the Addison Airport.  YAY!

Okay, I was going to write a bigger con report, but I just don't have the energy.  Here's the almost copy paste from FA:

I had tons of fun at TFF... at least when I wasn't asleep.  Going to a con right when you're trying to recover from illness isn't the best idea in the world.  I went to all the suit panels and met a few people before running back to my room to sleep.  I suited once each day for a little bit and got lots of hugs.  You can tell in the parade videos how dead I was.  I'm still glad that I went even if I wasn't very active.  I was surprised how many people were there ( I think everyone was ).

The funniest thing was when I yanked my head off after the parade and people were like OMG girl!  Course that also caused me to lose my badge AND my room key.  Thankfully my human went down to the hotel desk and they gave me another until I could get mine back.  The next day, I stuck the key in my shoe just in case.  Two is better than one.  ;)  I'm going to see if my step mom can sew me a pocket into one of the feetpaws for future use.  I also need to have her shorten the arms just a smidge.

I have quite a few pictures from the musical chairs and other games from Sunday Morning, so if you are looking for a specific suit, let me know and I'll send you a copy.

See y'all next year!

PS feel free to take/use any pictures that I upload of TFF, just please credit me. Thanks!

This weekend, I'm supposed to suit at my niece's 3rd birthday party.  That is if I can find a handler.  I thought my dad was going to be there, but seems he and my step mom are going to some kind of deacon training.  I'd really like them to see me as Zeke so they don't think I'm crazy.  They don't know what to think of the suit at this point.  Perhaps someday.

My mom also somehow found out about the convention and what it really was.  (I think my sister said something) She was asking all kinds of questions, but I think that is good because she can see my part in furry and understand without just reading random stuff on the internet.  She said she wants to see Zeke.  I might take him to Disney in April or maybe my sister's graduation in May.  Depends on how much room we have in the car or how much I want to pay to check him on the airline.

Well seems that I have the flu.  I called my dad today to ask him something and he ended up deciding that he needed to come get me and take me to his house.  I hate being sick at other people's houses.  I want to be at my place on my couch watching my own tv.  I seriously doubt that they'll let me go to Furry Fiesta at this point.  :(   Guess time will tell.

It bothers me to no end when people make up characters that are albino.  I know everyone thinks it's cool and that's fine, cuz I know I'm partial to it.  The part that bothers me is that either they don't read about it or know anything about albinism.  They think if the char is white with red eyes then they qualify.  Unfortunately, then they start adding crazy colored paw pads or feathers or markings or whatever, which negates the whole thing.  Part of albinism is LACK OF PIGMENT.  Sure, there are degrees of it in humans.  For example, some can have blue eyes, blonde hair, and some freckles.  Another thing is that people think they have some sort of mystical powers, too.  (Thanks Hollywood.)  :(  I know furry is about being whatever the hell you want, but it still bothers me.  I feel I can rant about this because my sister has albinism, so I know a thing or two about it.  If you're going to use characteristics from something at least learn about it instead of using it because it's cool, ok?

I'll shut up now.
